ABSTRACT:The main purpose of this study was to develop simple, sound and practical models for designing WSP utilizing the actual performance data obtained from the WSP’s in Jordan. The final results obtained from the study of the design of Waste Stabilization Ponds (WSP) in Jordan are presented in this report, which is a part of an agreement between the Royal Scientific Society and the Water Authority of Jordan in 1991 for the monitoring of three WSP treatment plants and studying their design criteria. The plants are As-Samra, Madaba and Mafraq WSP’s. Empirical equation for anaerobic and facultative ponds were obtained. Moreover, design equations for facultative ponds in Jordan were derived. These equations give the relation between maximum allowable surface organic loading rate and average ambient daily temperature. The study comprised of: * Preliminary Report 1992 * Final Report 1995 * Annexes 1995
